Scottish genealogical research using Statutory Records, Old Parish Registers, Censuses, Valuation Rolls, Wills, Kirk Session Minutes, Estate Records and other archival documentary sources.
Pre-Statutory (i.e. pre-1855) genealogical research is a speciality, with a special interest in the records of the Scottish Secession Churches and also in pre-1841 Scottish Censuses and Population Listings.
Services include the compilation of a full genealogical report, with a family tree, and copies of any relevant documents as required.
Social and Local History research, including histories of specific houses, farms, villages and even complete parishes can be compiled, and will include maps or plans, sasine records and valuation roll entries.
A special interest has developed into 17th and 18th century research, and also in early Scottish - North American migration.
Bruce B Bishop is a regular speaker, giving talks and workshops at events such as 'Who Do You Think You Are? Live, a selection of talks to Family History and Local History Groups, and also teaches some of the Scottish Genealogy Society Saturday Classes.
